Archbishop John Sherrington

Archbishop John Sherrington was ordained as a priest for the diocese of Nottingham in 1987.

He was previously the Bishop of Westminster and Titular Bishop of Hilta.

In April 2025, Pope Francis appointed Archbishop John Sherrington as Archbishop of Liverpool. He succeeded Archbishop Malcolm McMahon.

Bishop Thomas Neylon

Bishop Tom was ordained in 1982 and has served the Archdiocese in many different capacities since then, spending many years of his service in St. Helens.

He is the Titular Bishop of Plestia.

The Bishop and Archbishop are assisted by hundreds of serving and retired priests who work across the Archdiocese. For more information, please see the Directory available on the Archdiocesan website.


Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King

Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, officially known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, is the seat of the Archbishop of Liverpool and the mother church of the Archdiocese of Liverpool.

Every year, the pupils of St. Bede's are given the opportunity to visit the Cathedral, for instance in attending the Advent Service or Good Shepherd Mass.

Members of the Widnes Catholic Children's Choir may also attend the Cathedral for further events. For more information about the WCCC, please see the flyer below.

Widnes Catholic Children's Choir

Run through the Archdiocese of Liverpool, the Widnes Catholic Children's Choir is open to children in Years 2-8. Weekly rehearsals take place at St. John Fisher Parish Hall.

The choir is always looking for new members!
