Prayer and Liturgy

At St. Bede's Catholic Junior School, prayer and liturgy are at the heart of our community. They offer meaningful opportunities for children, parents and staff to come together in prayer, reflection and celebration, helping everyone to participate fully, actively and consciously in faith formation.
Inspired by our patron, St. Bede, we encourage our children to see faith as something that is lived each day. Through prayer, worship and reflection, they are supported to build a personal relationship with God, learn about Catholic traditions and to put Gospel values, Catholic Social Teaching and Christian virtues into action in their everyday lives.
What do prayer and liturgy look like at St. Bede’s?
Prayer takes place daily through morning, lunchtime and evening offerings as well as moments of spontaneous prayer. The List of School Prayers details the common Catholic prayers and those special to St. Bede's Catholic Junior School that are prayed by staff and pupils daily, weekly and throughout the school year.
Prayer areas, displays and focus tables are updated regularly to reflect the liturgical season or to celebrate particular themes or events.
Celebration of the Word takes place weekly in classes, year groups and as a whole school community. Participation is supported, scaffolded and progressive (see 'Building up Participation').
Mass is celebrated throughout the school year.
