RSHE

A Prayer for our RSHE lessons

Loving Father,

You created each one of us in Your image – unique, special and deeply loved.  Thank you for the gift of our bodies, our minds, our feelings and our friendships.  As we begin our RSHE lesson today, help us to understand more about ourselves and the journey of love You call us to follow.  Teach us to speak with kindness, to listen with care and to treat ourselves and others with dignity and respect.  Guide us as we grow so that we may make good and loving choices and learn to build healthy, happy relationships.  May we always remember: we are never alone – you walk with us – and we are part of a family of faith and love.  We are children of God – help us to respect, love and achieve in every part of our lives.

St. Bede, pray for us.

Headteacher's Statement

At St. Bede's Catholic Junior School, Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) is taught in accordance with our Catholic faith and the teachings of the Church. We believe that every child is created in the image and likeness of God, is unique, and is deserving of dignity, love and respect.

Through our RSHE curriculum, we aim to help children develop healthy relationships, understand the importance of family and friendship, recognise their own self-worth, and learn how to keep themselves safe, both physically and emotionally. Our teaching is age-appropriate, inclusive and rooted in the Gospel values and Christian virtues. The RSHE policy outlines the rationale, aims, objectives and provision for RSHE within our school. The curriculum overview highlights how we teach our children about relationships, sex and both physical and emotional health in light of our Catholic faith and through a rich, extensive and rounded curriculum.

We work in partnership with parents and carers, recognising that they are the first educators of their children. Together, we seek to nurture confident, respectful and responsible young people who are equipped to make safe, healthy and informed choices, and flourish as valued members of God’s family. We are committed to supporting our families in educating the 'whole child' and welcome any questions, queries or concerns they have about RSHE as part of our ongoing cycle of consultation. For more information about RSHE at St. Bede's Catholic Junior School, please view the key documentation below or contact the school office to arrange a meeting. Please also look out for invitations to complete parent/carer voice questionnaires or to attend parent/carer working party meetings.
